Environmental Sustainability: The Future of Natural Resources
The scarcity of natural resources is making the supply of raw materials ever more complex, driving systems of exploitation that are no longer sustainable for ecosystems. At the heart of the debate is water: a resource as precious as it is fragile, and a right that must be guaranteed to all, even though around two billion people still lack free access to drinking water. Water is tied to complex systems of production and consumption, is subject to waste and overexploitation, and requires careful, sustainable management.

Food Sustainability: conscious choices and ancient grains
The current agri-food system is considered one of the main causes of climate change. It is estimated that agriculture alone accounts for 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions. To begin reflecting on the issue, we have chosen the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet: wheat. This talk will explore consumer awareness and food education, which have a long tradition in the Cilento, where the very principles of the Mediterranean diet were defined.
“We are what we eat,” said the German philosopher L. Feuerbach, which leads us to reflect on the close interconnection between socio-cultural issues and health. How can proper nutrition and the rediscovery of “forgotten” agri-food products improve the well-being of the community?

Culture and social responsibility as a tool for democracy
Social sustainability, understood as the set of actions aimed at achieving equity in society, has only recently entered the debate on development as a fundamental pillar of the overall sustainability framework. Truly putting the principles of social sustainability into practice means profound changes in the balance of power between people and in our economic system. There is now a clear awareness that, without cohesion, it will be hard to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030).
We will talk about decent working conditions, gender equality, equal opportunities, access to education and innovation. We will ask: “How can cultural action help set this path in motion?” (Panel I) and “Through which social business model can we contribute to new visions of work?” (Panel II).
