Forgotten Archives, Digital or Not?
Models for Rediscovering and Valuing the Music Sector

In a global landscape where the digitisation of information continues to evolve and expand, music is finding its roots again through the rediscovery of forgotten archives. The steady growth in the market for analogue music formats, such as cassette tapes and vinyl, is tied to broader themes: the rediscovery of musical genres, information, anecdotes and cultural languages that have been buried by digital consumption.

Sustainable Fishing and Responsible Consumption
A Journey Through Overfishing, Fishing Techniques and Product Value

According to FAO data, around 34% of the world’s fish stocks are overfished, while a further 60% or so are fished at their maximum sustainable limit. Per capita fish consumption has also doubled compared with fifty years ago. Marine ecosystems are under constant threat from the negative externalities of unsustainable fisheries management. Is sustainable fishing possible? We believe it depends on respecting regulations, adopting anti-waste solutions, using low-impact catch methods and making conscious consumer choices. It is essential to promote more selective fishing techniques, ensure fair earnings for fishermen and celebrate age-old traditions that respect the seas’ capacity to regenerate and yield products of excellence.

Mediterranean Diet and Food Waste: Why Slow Is Better
Skills, Knowledge, Symbols and Traditions of Sustainable Communities

It is estimated that Italy alone wastes 67 kg of food per person every year. In 2022, reversing the trend of the previous two years, household food waste rose by around 15%. The urgency is no longer in question, and although common sense still prevails among household anti-waste strategies, we are convinced that it cannot be the answer on its own. We believe technology, through apps and devices that support household appliances, can become the go-to tool in the fight against waste, starting today. Our history gives us access to “a set of skills, knowledge, rituals, symbols and traditions, ranging from the landscape to the table”. We must reclaim this “Mediterranean treasure”. To do so within communities, we believe the living lab can be an effective tool for positive change. The dialogue between Mediterranean tradition and anti-waste solutions runs from education to research, and from awareness-raising to celebrating the unique character of each territory.

BLOC FARM: a workshop for Impertinent Ideas
Closing roundtable of the BLOC FARM initiative, part of the “Fermenti in Comune” call funded by ANCI and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers’ Department for Youth Policies

For one year (August 2021 – July 2022), the BLOC team worked alongside 15 young people from the Cilento area on a journey of rediscovering their territory, empowerment and self-entrepreneurship. It was a period of training to take care of their land again, creating networks of action and planting the seeds of long-term projects. BLOC FARM is a stimulus for adopting a new model of action, one that finds in the territory’s challenges the drive to imagine new futures built on active citizenship, inclusion and responsibility. The roundtable is a moment of feedback and exchange between teachers and the young protagonists of the BLOC FARM journey.
