Discovering the Metaverse: Virtual Reality with Real Capabilities
What Effects on Communities, Tourism and the Environment?
Experts in advanced augmented and virtual reality products and services take us on a journey into the metaverse, from its definition to its widespread adoption during the pandemic. We will explore the many benefits this interactive technology can bring to everyday life, for individuals and businesses alike. The development team, who chose the Cilento area as the base and hub of their technological innovation, speaks with a strong awareness of the role these tools will play in all our lives in a future that no longer seems far away. Their experience offers a chance to reflect on how the spread of artificial intelligence can be normalised and used to create intergenerational value in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Olives Scattered Like Flocks of Sheep
Roundtable on the Pisciottana cultivar and presentation of Slow Food Italy’s 2023 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Guide
“Ulivi, sempre ulivi! …Ulivi sparsi come pecore a frotte”, said the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti of the coast between Pisciotta and Palinuro, describing his journey through the Cilento. That was in 1932, yet little seems to have changed when we look at the rows of green canopies that still shape the landscape of the Cilento National Park today. Olive oil production has been one of the main activities of the people of this land for centuries, a source of both wealth and pride, with over 18,000 hectares devoted to Cilento PDO oil. Many varieties, or cultivars, characterise this oil, among them the Pisciottana, the oldest and most emblematic. With the help of experts on these mighty centuries-old trees, a thematic debate will explore their influence on the Cilento area, focusing on the landscape, the productive activity that follows from it and the scientific research carried out on the various cultivars. The discussion will cover traditions, communities and the environment, as well as responsible consumption and the celebration of excellence. The talk will also present the 24th edition of Slow Food Italy’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil Guide.
